The use of keywords can often be misunderstood and this is frustrating as it is one of the most important parts of SEO. SEO is of course all about keywords; the search terms used by people when looking for information using Google or other search engines. There are some things can really can make all the difference when trying to optimise your page content like which words and phrases you choose to be your keywords. If you’re looking into optimizing your site in order to increase its visibility to web users, then this is the first step you’ll need to take in any search engine optimization campaign.

One mistake a lot of webmasters make with SEO Services is to assume that the one keyword which is most relevant to their site is necessarily the best one to optimize all of their content for. Of course this is not and absolut no no and yes your keyword needs to be used where ever possible and would not produce results quickly. This leap of logic leads many webmasters to neglect to perform adequate keyword research and as a result, they fail to help their site’s page rank.

Lets imagine that you have a webpage regarding clocks. Instinctively, you’d want to optimize your content for the keyword “clocks” or “clock”. Again, there’s nothing wrong with this, but there are a few things you should think about before assuming that this is all you need to do. sometimes these types of keywords can be too non specific, particularly if you are trying to sell something. Also there are a handfull of very common search term and if your looking to rank in the first page with them – good luck.

Obviously, you’re going to need to be more specific if you want to make your SEO a success. And this is where keyword research takes effect: there are many excellent tools available for this very function some you can ourchase some are free. Google offers a free keyword research tool which many feel to be among the best – though there are certainly a great number of choices for webmasters to explore.

What these tools can do for you is to show you how many searches a given keyword or phrase receives. This of course alone is very important data, keyword resaerch is also able to show how much competition there is out there for your chosen keywords. This can show you whether you’re better off using (as per our example above) “clocks” or a more specific keyword which will have a higher chance of attracting the visitors you’re trying to reach, such as “Bavarian cuckoo clocks”.

The more detailed and specific keywords are not searched for as often as the single word keywords but with less competition. The idea of keyword research is to find keywords which are searched often enough to be worth the trouble of optimizing your content for, yet not so competitive that you won’t have a chance to rank highly for these words and phrases.
