Using Keyword Competition Research To Increase Conversion

In today’s internet marketing it is important to keep up with popular trends including  the concept of keyword competition and the appropriate use of low competition keywords.  There are a number of search engines on the internet, and there are only so many ways  that you can boost your site all the way to the top of the rankings.

General terms that encompass a wide realm of possibilities will usually fall under the  high competition keywords. These are words that are used commonly, apply to products and  services that are purchased commonly, and words that are commonly shortened. For  instance, auto is a commonly shortened term for automobile. Few of us refer to the car as  either the auto or the automobile. We typically use the words we are more familiar with  when we type our keywords into search engines.  We need to be familiar with how search engines  work.

We know that very common words are naturally going to be more popular. Once you get the keyword research results, you  still have to determine whether it is worth the money, time, and energy to compete with  the simple keyword with a great deal of competition or to drive it down a notch or two  and go for the low competition keywords.

Industries, products, and services that have jargon used throughout those “in the know”  are likely to be able to use low competition keywords with great success. Sometimes it’s  not just about driving traffic to your site. Sometimes what makes the biggest difference  in your success is driving traffic that is already familiar with what they need and are  actually looking to buy.

While fewer people will type your low competition keyword the ones that do are seeking  what you have. They are not interested in general searches that may or may not bring them  to a useful site. Instead, they are looking directly for the best answer to their needs  and they are doing it with intention. This means that you are more likely to return a  profit from the traffic that you do receive.

For every low competition keyword that you choose you should not ignore the high  competition keywords, either. You still will need them indexed with the search engine and  continue to use them as part of your overall marketing plan to increase your website’s  level of authority.

However, when bidding on pay per click keywords or developing your overall marketing  plan, you can save money and develop a good base market by using the keyword competition  information thoughtfully.
