Google have for so long been the number one ultimate force in the world of search, over the past decade the company have grown from strength to strength and earned themselves billions of pounds in the mix.
No other search engine has genuinely been capable to come close to Google merely because of the technology and market share that the company have. But that could all be changing soon as the announcement that Bing owned by Microsoft will be buying out Yahoo, the second largest search engine in the world.
But how could this merger change SEO? Let us take a brief look. We already know that Yahoo are much better at analysing natural linking patterns and citations then Bing. So what this merger will do is allow Microsoft to have access to Yahoos technology and algo. Bing will be powering all of the Yahoo search results in the future. But until Bing enforce Yahoos engineering science where will that leave a lot of businesses and SEOs?
Well we all know that Bings search results are not very proficient. So what could potentially happen is that a lot of traffic that comes from Yahoo could be wiped out in quick session, giving unknown sites that additional piece of coverage.
But I do believe that once Bing does implement Yahoo’s technology they will really be a force to be reckoned with. I mean Yahoo really do have brains behind their engine and with the money that Microsoft have the joint company will be able to push forwards. And now is exactly the best time to do so as Google seem to be interested in other markets such as creating operating systems, and some of their search results do seem bad.
